to new beginnings!

The ANOUSHKA Team is intent on inspiring minds, transforming lives, and multiplying smiles.

While interacting and receiving feedback from volunteers and a range of children, carers and administrators at orphanages, we learnt something that disturbed us. The children in orphanages across India almost never receive birthday celebrations in which they are the star and their birthday is celebrated; while the same children actively participate in others’ Birthday celebrations. This means no cake, parties, games, gifts etc. for them on their special day.

We wanted to change that in a meaningful way and have begun this journey!

The ANOUSHKA Team has already celebrated the Birthdays of 12 children at SAAD Foundation (Manav Children’s Home) much like the way we celebrate birthdays in our homes with our children. A lovely personalized cake, cards, cold drinks and snacks, a party atmosphere, hats balloons and other decorations, and also birthday gifts for their collective use.

We started with Ashish’s birthday on 15th August 2021 and will continue to do this for all 20 children at this orphanage, every year.

It was a hugely emotional moment for all the children and us too!

We realized we had made a big difference when the birthday boy said this was the first time he felt truly celebrated on his special day!

This is now our exclusive ANOUSHKA tradition with the children such that they look forward to their ANOUSHKA Family celebrating each of their birthdays!

And it is ANOUSHKA’s commitment that we will continue this ANOUSHKA family birthday celebration event, year on year, through the active volunteering and sponsorship that has begun to flow in wholehearted support of our actions.

If you would like to sponsor a child’s birthday through the ANOUSHKA Team’s ongoing efforts, please contact us at candida.anoushkasmiles@gmail.com and learn about how you can become a part of this journey.

year 2021 closing Message from Candida Chandorkar, Founder of ANOUSHKA

31 Dec 2021

As 2021 comes to a close, I want to take a moment to express my most heartfelt gratitude to you for joining me in ANOUSHKA’s journey. In that, I also want to say.. I saw each of us become a better version of ourselves.

So.. I’m sharing a few lines I wrote to celebrate what we do..This is titled ‘More Importantly’

‘MORE IMPORTANTLY’ PART 1

Along the way..

We met a few challenges,

We sparked each other,

We dug deep within ourselves,

We became better.

We helped each other, ourselves and others,

But more importantly, the children;

Began helping each other.

We learnt new things, we taught what we learnt,

But more importantly, the children;

Began teaching each other.

‘MORE IMPORTANTLY’ PART 2

And now..

We provide experiences Educational, social, environmental,

But more importantly, the children;

Allow their ANOUSHKA family to be their compassionate mantle.

For at the core of our efforts Are their minds we inspire,

Their lives we transform,

Their smiles we multiply...

But more importantly, the children;

Unknowingly provide exactly the same!

INSPIRE OUR MINDS | TRANSFORM OUR LIVES | MULTIPLY OUR SMILES MORE IMPORTANTLY, TOGETHER, WE HAVE CREATED A BETTER VERSION OF OURSELVES!!

Art Expressions by children (8-14 years) at SAAD Foundation - aN ANOUSHKA EVENT

What would you like to be when you grow up?

The team at ANOUSHKA organized an online event for the children at SAAD Foundation. This event was an online workshop where the kids were asked to depict via drawings and artwork, what they would like to become when they grow up. As part of the assignment they were required to think through, create and present their artwork. Despite limited drawing and writing resources, it was heartening to see and hear each child’s aspirations through art!

Their art expressions reconfirmed the essence of these 4 quotes:

“The aim of art is not to represent the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance.” - Aristotle

“Paintings have a life of their own that derives from the painter’s soul.” - Vincent Van Gogh

“Art is unquestionably one of the purest and highest elements in human happiness. It trains the mind through the eye, and the eye through the mind. As the sun colors flowers, so does art color life.” - John Lubbock

“While drawing I discover what I really want to say.” - Dario Fo

Contemporary Madhubani artwork displayed on this site are creations by artist Candida Chandorkar, Founder of ANOUSHKA.

These art images will later be made available as digital prints ( "as is" or on merchandise) to generate funds for ANOUSHKA.
